you can do a lot of things: open console ^ and write i hit tab and then enter. is your T-Flight Hotas listed with a joystick # and connected. if not the game does not recognize it, maybe you have some profiler software running blocking it from SC? if it has a joystick# and is connected you maybe have to bind the axis and buttons in.

I found that with the new changes to scanning to identify rocks (and salvage) via RS signal, you can adjust your “ping” or scanning angle in scanning mode to achieve the same results as the pinging strategies used in mining during 3.17.X. Yeah, they're not working. They'll show up when you're really close to them (2k), but the scans don't appear to locate them at the moment. Sigh, yes. I hope this is high on their list of bugs to fix. It's really, really annoying for 3.18 to be the salvage patch, and when the game isn't unplayable (3.18, 3.18.1), the salvage scanning doesn't work. Prospector will only 'sometimes' be able to scan asteroids. There are a few supposed work-arounds out there, but some of them can break the game enough you have to restart. Best fix for now is, don't mine asteroids. I went from harvesting them in Yela orbit to instead doing stuff on the surface of Yela. Voice is going to be either proximity or party. If you move from the turret to the pilot seat, collecting and mining may be locked out.
