As far as shutoff mechanism 3 types were available; manual push/pull cable, Cat electric solenoid (energized to shut off, not energized to run like 3406B) and Kysor electric over air.

Basically its just a switch that increases the rpm slightly in order to warm the engine faster. As far as I know, there is no way to adjust/override the idle timing because it is a safety feature.
