I would get Briley, keep OEM or wait for the A300 Ultima handguard being adopted for 1301.

No, it's just stiff. The kickoff on the A300 is more like the one on the 391 Xtrema line than the A400. Put the butt pad against the ground and push down on the barrel if you want to ensure it's functioning. In all honesty, I found that the kickoff wasn't all that useful on the 20 gauge Ultima. It shoots pretty soft without it.
