We don't go to Secrets Cap Cana till next year so I can't really help with comparisons but we have stayed at Secrets Playa Mujeres & I have to say although we had an enjoyable holiday we weren't exactly blown away. What we liked about the Excellence hotel over Secrets was the pool area. Secrets has 1 main pool and an infinity pool. We did not use either but opted for the beach. Honestly, the service was so poor we didn't bother - we just left it. It contained a private lounge which served a good hot breakfast, hors d'oeuvres and desserts and had an open bar. it was very nice, as the restaurants there are quite a walk from secrets St. James.
