You would pass the exam despite only getting 46.4% of the question pool correct (130/280). Likewise, let's say you got 182 questions correct out of 280. Then about a 92% correct gives an insane score like ~262 and above. on the other side, 64% gives about a 212. finally one of the most compelling data is that a passing score (~4th percentile) needs 59% correct that which is almost exactly what is stated on the usmle step 1 website, where they say ~60% correct needed to pass.Particularly if you can score well....and particularly since program directors still say that a good numerical step 1 > P/F > bad numerical step 1. At the end of the day, we're all trying to be competitive for the match and if a scored step 1 helps you out, there's no reason not to go for it. Do 3 or 4 tests EACH DAY. That will take you to complete uworld in 24 days. The only way to increase you’re score is doing questions and reviewing fairly fast. Then read the explanation 3.skip the other answer options if I got the answer right/if I got answer wrong I would read the answer options.
NBME 27 (8 weeks out)- 200. NBME 29 (3 DAYS after)- 194 then I freaked and push my exam back a month. AMBOSS FREE SELF ASSESSMENT (2 weeks out)- 217. NBME 30 (1 week out)- 209. NBME 28 (5 days out)- 69% with a 97% chance of passing. FREE 120 (3 days out)- 75%. After the free120 I stopped studying.

Step 1, 10th April 2023. Just took the step 1 today with good practice scores on UWSAs and NBMEs (75-85%). I came out of the exam hella confused and depressed. The real deal was nothing like either. I had no clue for about 10-15 Qs on each block and the stems were long and unnecessarily confusing, there was a lot of low yield stuff asked.

I have never gotten this kind of score in my entire life! I just couldn't believe it. -NBME 28 (4 wks out): 60%, oh wow look there's hope for me! -NBME 29 (3 wks out): 62%, as you can see not much difference, and this was when I focused on my weak areas for 3 days.
