I didn't see one as being better than the other in the accuracy department. The gen1 piston barrels cycled cheap, low pressure stuff better than the gen2 in my experience. The gen2 struggles to be gassed enough to run reliably suppressed with a Rugged Razor 7.62. It is a single shot unsuppressed. In your situation, I’d keep the 10.3 URGI and use the disposable funds on the LMT. It’s different, not just the barrel length, but operating system, the balance of the gun, capabilities, and options in the future (rifle length barrel if you wanted, different calibers, ect).It is not a no-no with the Specwar, but LMT’s official statement is that they recommend a standard carrier. The enhanced carrier should really only be considered for the specwar if you’re mostly running suppressed, but it will function unsuppressed.

Spec war it, get a 12" piston for the shovelnose. No idea how nice the sionics is, but I got my 16" midlength di barrel chopped to 12.5 and it's fantastic. I've only tried it with my rugged Alaskan so far but I was extremely impressed with the performance, lack of gas to face and the nice tone. Shot smooth as butter.

All you need to be sure of is: will your gas block clear the tight ID of the Specwar upper. My understanding is that most low-profile gas blocks will be fine. The decision to convert or not is yours.
