I had a Maytag previously and it died of old age. If I had known the annoying features of the new machines (lid lock, sensing water level) I would have paid anything to repair it. Learned the hard way. This washer is the closest to the "good old" top loaders my generation is used to. Lid locks ONLY when spinning. Water levels can be chosen.

The response from MaytagTeam wasn't very helpful. First, it is full of grammar errors. Second, I've tried everything with my Maytag machine and it never adds enough water. The clothes come out with detergent spots because it doesn't even rinse them good enough. This very expensive machine is not as good as a cheap model.
