I shot a matthews phase 4 29 and the new hoyt vtm 34 as well. My takeaway was I didn't like the way the matthews fit my hand. It felt a little top heavy, not crazy but kind of noticeable and could've used a back bar. The vtm 34 was awesome at anchor bc it felt less scrunched up but I could literally feel my pinky shake with the shot like vibrating.

With Mathews, every mod is optimized for your draw length to maximize performance. So I would start there.

The consensus is that the Mathews is 3-5 fps faster than the Hoyt. Lift 33. Where do I start. The draw is light years better in my mind than the previous few years of Mathews with SW cams.Honestly gotta shoot them both one will just feel better to you. If you can’t shoot both based on the specs the Mathews is a shorter ata at 34ish and the Hoyt is 36ish. The Hoyt in theory should be more forgiving because it is longer. The Mathews will be lighter and slightly faster shooting. The cam feel you have to pull to feel it.

I picked up my new Mathews Phase 4 29" on Monday. I went into my local shop and shot the Phase 4 29/33 and the VTM 31. The draw cycle seemed a touch better on the VTM but the back wall and hold felt incredible on the Phase 4's. I bumped up from 60# to 70# so I didn't hold the draw cycle of the Mathews against it.The hoyt rx7 and mathews phase 4 bows are compared in terms of performance. The reason I ask is that the Mathews have been coming in pretty heavy vs what mod they have on. 3 - 4 lbs over isn't uncommon.
