While planting food plots last season noticed the clutch was not stopping the transmission, took a long time. for the gears to stop before shifting, and the PTO was dang near impossible to engage with the tractor running.

May 28, 2018. #1. Replace the PTO switch. I keep one on hand. Usually when it is the switch the PTO will run IF you hold the switch up in the engaged position. There is a magnetic "lock" inside the switch that holds it on until one of the "safety switches" trip it off. That seems to go bad about every other year for me. Check to see that the volt meter reads between 13-14 volts. If it is, your voltage regulator (alternator) is working fine. Remove the volt meter leads from the battery. Turn off the lawn mower. The electric clutch is located under the front of the frame and is bolted to the crank shaft of the engine. On the top of the clutch there is a connector. The PTO is a 2 wire but I measured the voltage from the connector going from the engine to the PTO clutch. The connector is three wire and the circuit goes from the the PTO switch and is connected to safety switches for PTO, seat, Rio and break. The mower does start but I’m getting voltage feedback with the the PTO switch not engaged.
If its NOT turning the belted shaft, you may need a new pto clutch pack because the material is worn away.
