Locked out of reverse after MGW Shifter. Installed the MGW shifter yesterday as per their video and install went really smooth. Also installed a new C6 shifter box which adds the rubber dampeners. The shifter doesn't control the preciseness of the shift. That is controlled by the transmission. Every shifter for the C5/C6 is nothing but a straight stick that is inserted in a hole that is in the shifter block that gets fastened in the tunnel. My Hurst shifter feels more precise than the stock shifter, but the throw is only about 1/8th inch less. They supply a special wrench to tighten in the shifter kit. But IMO a large round shape like a 2 1/4 inch diameter cue ball size helps especially with my often used 4th to 7th shift.

All of the factory shifters are vague, and long throw, so if you're willing to put up with high resistance, I recommend the MGW. To me I didn't like the high stiffness with my MGW. I did the anti-venom mod and it helped a lot.
