After some encouragement from members on this site to an earlier post, I went out and found the box with my 12 ga reloader. I believe it is a MEC JR 600. I am trying to figure out if it is a Mark 5. I went to the mec site and it is NOT an 82-85 because it does not have the model embossed on the base. Excuse the caps. All my pacific hornady wad fingers are white. Never tried them on a mec. OLD lee fingers do but are discontinued. They are for the old mallet tool aluminum tube wad guide for the deluxe kit. Seen at gun shows in junk boxes and MAYBE gun parts/numrich if you deep search. You can run the super 600 with just one shell in the shell plate and it will function the same as a 600jr. I have a 12ga 600jr and a Texan loader from the 60's in 20ga. Started shotshell reloading recently. Using MEC 600 Jr in 12 ga. started with Red Dot and im getting inconsistent powder charges. If I trust without checking I get random light loads that won't cycle the 2 SA shotguns I'm testing with. When I catch them I have a powder trickle dispenser nearby and make the adjustment. For $40 it's missing the charge bar and powder and shot vials. Is it worth picking up new vials, $9 on amazon and a charge bar and trying to trade it for a 12 gauge loader?

Those are both Pre '82 Models. The front of the Base Assembly is open. With '82 on models the base is closed in the front. Bars and Bushings you can get directly from MEC, many local gunshops, or any of the online dealers like Gamaliel Shooting Supply and Midway USA. I initially had similar crushing issues with 20 gauge STS hulls. I am using 16 grains of Unique, DRV-20 wad and 13/16 ounce of #8 shot. My wad pressure is set to just barely move the indicator on my MEC 600 Jr. However, after readjusting the pre crimp and crimp stations, as described by DLM, everything began running smoothly.

I had a few issues with my new one, and contacted MEC which was pretty much useless. Problem1 : Operating handle jammed in the up position.
