If you only have 2psi then you know the problem is not enough fuel pressure. The question is if its your pump, fuel lines, the fuel filter/regulator (I didnt know that one) or you tank pickup. If you pinched the line and pressure shot up then it sounds like the pump is trying to put out enough ...If the pump is sending too much fuel to the carb, the float valve will stop the flow of fuel into the bowl. If that return line isn't there, the fuel has no where to go. This could possibly rupture the diaphragm in the fuel pump...depending on the quality of the pump. If that ruptures, you have a direct fuel leak into the crankcase.

Got a lot of obstacles to overcome (mainly wiring-don't have the donor XJ bulkhead harness) and the one that I am working on right now is the fuel delivery.

If you ever plan on fuel injecting this engine this would be the time to upgrade the fuel line diameters and go ahead and use some adaptors to connect the flex lines.
