The overhead unit is only connected to the radio with a hardwired splice into the front aux input plug so that the stereo can playback sound instead of using the included IR headphones.

I have not found the optimal settings for Handbrake yet, however. Started with their fast720P setting, but it was a little choppy on the monitors. Played fine on my computer, so not sure if the resolution is still too high for the car's monitors or if there is something else that can be changed to make them play more smoothly.
