Sadly, it does nothing, the door inside won't open, so I guess the content is not yet available?

You can only open the pond hatch door underwater. The one in the lab itself stays closed. There are some small labs all over the map which are still closed. I believe that's the one that opens when you open the Dome in the pond lab... I'm not sure on that though, as other than just the lab itself I haven't done much exploring in the pond.
