Sp20 wads.

The SP 20 is about the only dedicated 1 oz. 20 ga. wad left out there. Mostly, the biggest problem is not too much room but not enough. The AAHS/Longshot loads listed are at or near SAAMI max pressure with the wads they list. I hadn't planned on it. SAAMI max is 12,000psi. SP20's are good substitutes for the WW20F1 but are expensive if you shoot a lot. Try the Windjammer 20. Although the factory lists them as a 7/8oz. wad they work well with 1oz. if you use a low dense, sitting powder like HS6. The Duster orange 20 is a 7/8oz. wad, period. It sits high with about any brand/type powder.

I shoot 20 gauge at everything. The problem I ran into with the new AA hulls is they are to shallow for that wad and 1 ounce of shot. I had to go the Remington SP20 to get it all to fit. That is using 16.5 grs of Longshot for 1165 my 1 ounce Trap Load. For 1220 Hunting Loads I use Remington STS cases and 17.8 grs.

There is no question whatsoever about the WAA20F1. It was a 20 gauge yellow wad with a short leg section and intended for 1 ounce loads. That does not mean that with some combinations it could not be used with 7/8 or even 1-1/8 ounce loadings. I've got a couple of bags of Remington Power Piston R20-W29942 wads. They appear to be identical to RXP 20 wads except they have a rib running up the inside of each petal. Other than the rib, the two wads seem to have identical dimensions.
