I'm having trouble understanding, but it sounds like you're mixing up 4 different quest lines, one of which is less a quest and more a puzzle to access a treasure chest. The item you need to give to the Sellen doll is Sellen's Primal Glintstone , which you can only get by progressing to the tail-end of Sellen's quest, and which she herself gives you personally.I killed Sellen at Witchbane Ruins, because she wouldn't give me the item to follow the quest XD. I can't find her in her cave either. So I made the abolution, I find her in her cave, but she offers me only the purchase of magic.
